6. The Air Quality Index

Instruments on the ground and satellites orbiting around the Earth regularly analyse the air we breathe. They also monitor the presence and the quantity of the five main air pollutants: particulate matter, carbon monoxide, ozone, nitrogen dioxide and sulfur dioxide. The Air Quality Index (AQI) indicates how clean or polluted the air is.
